Long ago in Abruzzo, Italy, near the Adriatic Sea east of Rome, olive farmers who owned a "frantoio" pressed small amounts of olives simultaneously with citrus to create an unusual oil for their family and friends. Following that ancient culinary tradition today, Medi Terranea brings you four of these unique oils, golden-green in color with the flavors of Mediterranean citrus fruits, produced by Lino and Francesco Ricci. Pressed with citrus in a traditional stone mill, the olives used in these oils are harvested by hand at the exact point of ripeness. The resulting paste is then immediately pressed and the juice is centrifuged, separating the water content from the oil. Only the oil from this first cold pressing is flavorful enough to produce this very rare and precious extra virgin olive oil. The result is an incredible, versatile condiment for your table.

Medi Aprutium Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Aprutium is the Latin name of the region from which this extra virgin olive oil originates: Abruzzo. Specifically, this oil is from the medieval town of Lanciano, where gentle hills are wedged in between the mountains and the Adriatic Sea, which guarantees stable climactic conditions, crucial for high quality olive cultivation. This region is famous for Gentile olives, which are hand-picked and cold-pressed in a granite olive mill. Its taste is fruity and balanced with an intense aroma of olives. The sweet and harmonious flavor makes this oil the ideal condiment for a wide variety of dishes. The acidity is between .2 and .4 percent.
